Hello!
Hi everyone! I’m Leila Boisvert. I’m originally from the Bay Area, California, but I moved to Chicago (seriously, the best city!) to study Film and Television with a focus on directing at DePaul University. After graduating, I returned to my home state and am now based in Los Angeles.
One of my favorite parts of filmmaking is creating character-driven stories. I love delving into the nuances of a character and figuring out how they perceive the world and navigate through it. My favorite feeling is leaving a movie theater feeling like I really know a character, along with the rest of the audience. I’m also really passionate about creating female-centered stories that let women see themselves on screen in ways we don’t always get to. I want girls growing up to see the kind of content I always wished I could’ve seen when I was younger - so they can feel less alone.
As a filmmaker, collaboration is huge for me. I honestly couldn’t create anything without the people around me, and I genuinely believe that having a thoughtful, collaborative team makes all the difference. I also love when someone comes to me with just the seed of an idea and I help them shape it into something real from the ground up.
If you’re curious, a few of my favorite films are The Worst Person in the World, Black Swan, and Aftersun. These movies are so special to me and keep inspiring me to create every single day! You need to watch them if you haven't seen them yet.
Whether directing, producing, or writing, I’m always excited to create stories that connect and truly matter. Can’t wait to keep learning and growing in this wild, creative industry :)
